VR-10/4 Gasoline Pump Analog Mechanical Computer

vr-10-4_website_2.JPGThe VR-10/4 maintains the durability and reliability of previous computers at prices to $3.999 per gallon. Exceptionally versatile, it can be equipped with various options such as pulse generators and electric reset for self-serve operations. A factory installed "Quick Change" gearbox can be ordered for fast conversion to the metric system.

TheVR-10/4Gasoline Pump Analog Mechanical Computer provides transaction capability at prices up to $3.999 per gallon and easily converts to compute prices to $9.99 per gallon. Four transfer money wheels are one of the outstanding features of this computer. The configuration of the wheels is 0, 2, 4, 6, 8 four times with graduation at every penny, with count transfer occurring four times each revolution. Recording 40 cents, instead of 10 cents per revolution, the wheels now go only one fourth the speed to do the same job. The VR-10/4 with four transfer money wheels offers significantly longer operational life - particularly at higher price-per-gallon values and higher flow rates. Characters on both the first and second money wheels are uniform in size. The second wheel repeats its characters: 0, 0, 1, 1, 2, 2 etc. This configuration ensures against reading ambiguity that otherwise might occur during count transfer.

The new clutch used in both the right-hand money and quantity wheels has high resolution (300 serrations) and a knife edge drive pawl that extends to the outer surface of the clutch serrations. The result is a more precise and repeatable positioning of the wheels at the zero point during reset. Gear reduction to the right-hand money wheel is accomplished with a unique worm gear drive resulting in improved wheel stability and minimizes the effect of money wheel speed on the overall gear system.

The VR-10/4 accepts Series 7874 Pulse/Totalizer and barrier circuit retrofit kits to interface with V-R MBSS microprocessor based self-serve systems. The right-hand money wheel of the VR-10/4 contains appropriate gearing to mate with the V-R Series 7697 Pulse Transmitter used to send data to a variety of popular self-service control systems. The VR-10/4 is compatible with all V-R and competitive electric resets. With optional pulser and electric reset, these computers provide the total capability needed for data transmitting and remote authorizing in self-service, inventory control and information collection systems. A "Quick Change" Metric Gearbox is available. This option permits standard gallons mode under normal operating conditions. When the change to the metric system becomes a reality, a simple lever is depressed and the gear change provides instant display of liters. The VR 10/4 is physically interchangeable with the VR-101, VR-2001, VR-2002 and VR-2002E computers.
